Let's start getting healthy in 2026! Our new Nutrition and Fitness class will address the two areas that many of our adults struggle with: food choices and movement. Taught by Melissa Shaffer, a former special education teacher, the class will spend one hour each week learning about basic nutrition and one hour completing physical activities in the gym.
- Age: 18+ - $300.00 for an 8 week session/ 2 hours each week
- Location: Echo Motion Fitness - 3124 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena (across the street from Target and next door to RedWing shoes)
- Wednesdays 4:30-6:30

- No Club 21 staff will be present
Melissa Shaffer brings over 20 years of experience as a dedicated special education teacher to her role as a coach and founder of our inclusive gym. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders, along with extensive coursework in Adapted Physical Education. Her background in education, combined with a lifelong love of sports and fitness, laid the foundation for her mission: to create a space where athletes of all abilities can thrive.
A lifelong athlete herself, Melissa has a passion for weightlifting and regularly competes in powerlifting events. She is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, a Level 1 USA Weightlifting Coach, a certified nutrition coach and a certified adaptive fitness coach, uniquely qualified to support and train athletes with disabilities in a safe, empowering, and motivating environment.
By merging her deep knowledge of special education with her love for strength training, Melissa created a space that fosters confidence, community, and wellness. Her approach is grounded in respect, encouragement, and a belief that every athlete deserves access to high-quality coaching and fitness opportunities.
