
Fine Motor Skills for Independence and Belonging with Lisa Clavette, OTR/L

Lisa is a licensed and board-certified Occupational Therapist with over 28 years of experience. Lisa specializes in pediatrics and currently works for the Los Angeles Unified School District as a school based Occupational Therapist. For 10 years, Lisa has also assisted with Club 21 programs working directly with children with Down Syndrome. Lisa embodies the “Together Is better” slogan of Club 21 and believes in the value of collaboration between parents, educators and therapists.
Lisa will provide a review of functional gross and fine motor skills needed to learn activities of daily living. This presentation will discuss how to incorporate different strategies in natural play activities in order to enhance motor strength, coordination and problem solving. Improving motor skills helps children engage in different areas of their lives such as school activities, dressing skills, self-help skills and social participation.
