Wondering how ASL can benefit your child with Down Syndrome? Whether your child with Down Syndrome has a hearing loss or not, sign language is an amazing tool that can help foster communication, social, and cognitive development. In this presentation, Marissa Ramos, MA CCC-SLP will cover how to help kids with Down Syndrome reach their communication goals through spoken language and sign language. Parents will leave this presentation with actionable steps and activities for how to support their child's communication development at home.
Marissa Ramos is a speech-language pathologist who is fluent in ASL and English. She is the owner of Rise & Sign Therapies which provides speech and language services and social media advocacy for communication development in children. @riseandsigntherapies has over 600,000 followers across platforms and videos reach over 3 million accounts every month (On Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok). Marissa has extensive training with children who are deaf/hard of hearing, neurodivergent, and/or have developmental disabilities. She has worked in schools for the deaf, public schools, early intervention, and private practice with children ages 0-12.
