What is California's Self Determination Program?
The Self-Determination Program allows participants the opportunity to have more control in developing their service plans and selecting service providers to better meet their needs.
Who can apply for Self Determination?
Any eligible regional center consumer over the age of 3 yrs. may participate in the Self-Determination program.

NEW TO THE SELF DETERMINATION PROGRAM? Read the following:
Goal of the Self Determination Learning Circles?
- Educate and equip families to understand and move into the Self Determination Program (SDP) if and when it better meets their participant’s needs.
How do the Learning Circles work? Learning Circles will be led by Kelly Kulzer-Reyes and have four workshops and three shorter optional workshop sessions:
- Person-centered intentional planning
- Budgets and Unmet Needs
- Spending Plans and Generic Resources
- Creating job descriptions and choosing an FMS
- Pulling it all together: Moving in to SDP
When: Classes meet virtually on Mondays from 7:00-9:00pm
- May 19, June 2, June 9, June 16
- We will also be offering 3 optional check ins on May 24, June 7 and June 18 from 7:00-9:00 pm for person Centered planning and spending plans hands on work.

INTRODUCING OUR SDP TOGETHER PROGRAM
TARGET AUDIENCE: Those currently enrolled in the Self Determination Program
Are you already enrolled in Self Determination but could benefit from a monthly interactive meeting to ask your questions, bounce ideas, and increase your knowledge and understanding about Self Determination. Then you are in the right place and our SDP Together program is the perfect place for you.
What to expect:
- Develop Supportive Relationships with fellow SDP families
- Contribute to community brainstorming
- support community
- receive support
- brainstorm solutions to everyday challenges
- empower each other with Solutions
- Solve Problems
- Learn Updates to the SDP program
When: Meets Virtually Second Thursday each month for 10 months (dark July) 7:00-8:30pm:
- April 10, May 8, June 12, August 14, Sept 11, October 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11, Jan 8, Feb 12
Cost: $200
- Annually - If using your SDP funds to pay for, write it under Spending Plan 371 (Unpaid Training) or 366 (service code for training when the participant in SDP is over 18 if parents are in the spending plan.
